Working God’s works

Working God’s works

29/12/2026

As He passed by, He saw a man blind from birth. 2 And His disciples asked Him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he would be born blind?” 3 Jesus answered, “It was neither that this man sinned, nor his parents; but it was so that the works of God might be displayed in him. 4 We must work the works of Him who sent Me as long as it is day; night is coming when no one can work.
John 9:1-4 (NASB)

I was just thinking about what born again believers can do in a spiritual, or using the scriptural terminology, doing God’s works. Of course we can do all kinds of practical things such as going to a church meeting, being part of the welcome team, serving refreshments, leading a meeting, playing in the worship band etc etc. Of course these are all good things to do in our service to Christs’ body. But I don’t think these are necessarily activities in the realm of the Spirit i.e. the works of God.

I may be wrong or missing something but I was thinking of that these are the things we need to do in the realm of the Spirit which of course means it is all by faith in God.

  • Praying
  • Fasting (which is practical but increases our sensitivity to the Spirit.)
  • Listening to the Holy Spirit as He speaks though scripture and in our inner man
  • Obeying the Holy Spirit
  • Speaking our faith from our heart

It seems to me that these are the activities which will get us into working the works of God.

  • Jesus went often out to pray early in the morning
  • Mary was listening whilst Martha was doing practical stuff about which Jesus commented that Mary had chosen the better part.
  • Jesus always did the things which were pleasing the His Father
  • We hear Jesus speaking and the miracle happens
